Nature Photography

The term Nature Photography describes a huge genre of photography that manages natural occurring elements and the wonderful outdoors.

Some topics of Nature Photography are Wildlife and animals, flowers, plants or trees, mammals, mammals and insects, landscapes, seascapes and other land formations. Photographic views can vary from extreme macro photography or closeups to big panoramic triptych style photos. Unlike documentary photography and Fine Art Photography which deal with a subject matter or artist viewpoint, Nature Photography usually aim to be more visually pleasing. Nature Photography attempts to express the beauty of the subject through colour, depth and perspective.

Nature Photography is a really wide term and so contains many subcategories. Several of the more popular classes and topics are Wildlife, Landscapes, Seascapes, Plants and a lot more.

Wildlife photography addresses the animal kingdom, from elephants to dung beetles, Salmon to Sharks, Penguins to Pot Bellied Pigs. Wildlife photographers attempt to capture their subjects in their natural habitats and standard behavior.

Landscape Photography tries to capture the grand nature of the surrounding. The topics of landscape photographers are usually land masses, mountains and mountain ranges, sunsets and cloud formations, waterfalls and coastal vistas. The existence of people are generally void from landscape photographs in attempt to catch the raw beauty of a scene unhampered by mans hand.

Seascape Photography appears to capture the ocean and its many faces. The existence of animals or humans in seascape photography is neither required nor prohibited. There are lots of beautiful panoramic views of the ocean having a whale or a vessel gift. Seascapes also are about the beach scene class which would include beaches, water, coastline, tropical scenes and possibly a sunset.

Plant photography deals with all sorts of plant life, from flowers to vegetables, from trees to moss. Plant photography typically deals with closeups, still shots and macro photography. Flowers and extreme closeups are a favorite theme of plant photography.

Nature Photography is a big category unto its self as all the many sub categories could theoretically be termed Nature Photography since they certainly fall under the umbrella of Nature.

Some of the most famous Nature Photographers are Ansel Adams who initiated Landscape Photography with his amazing black and white photographs of beautiful vistas around america. Another would be Galen Rowell who had been a photojournalist and became renowned for his beautiful landscape photography. Other names would include William Henry Jackson, Eliot Porter, David Muench and Philip Hyde to name a few.

Nature remains the most popular kind of photography now. Whether Nature photos are taken appropriately or from the vacationing amateur, the group of Nature Photography goes on powerful and is here to stay.
